The 2010 Environmental Indicators Report is here!

The Silicon Valley Environmental Partnership (SVEP) has just released its 2010 Environmental Indicators Report, reflecting the overall environmental health of the Silicon Valley. These reports on local environmental conditions are intended to provide long-term monitoring and trend forecasts, and serve as a valuable tool for local municipalities, businesses, and citizens seeking to improve decision-making on environmental issues. There is no other index for the Silicon Valley region that focuses on environmental resources.

This year’s report includes 8 indicators covering key resource areas including energy and water use, air quality, public transit, toxics production, waste disposal and habitat protection.

These reports are a foundation for taking action on unsustainable resource use and provide benchmarks for assessing improvement.

Some of SVEP's achievements include:

Our vision for Silicon Valley is a sustainable community with a vibrant economy and a healthy environment. To meet this goal, we must have solid information on our environmental effects that can be used to direct Silicon Valley's creative power toward sustainable development.
